Native American jewelry collectors are found all over the world. They hunt for those rare pieces that have great American rocks. Navajo silversmith Calvin Martinez made this fascinating bear paw buckle. It all begins with the impressive piece of turquoise. Morenci has a long history associated with Navajo silver. Copper miners brought out the hard and deep blue stone in their lunch pals to sell for some extra cash. This big blue rock has that signature deep blue Morenci color along with its’ famous iron pyrite matrix. Calvin uses the large rock for the pad of the bear claw, and then stamps five claws off of it. He then borders the large paw on a big oval buckle that showcases that amazing stamped border that looks like a heavy braid. This is one of those pieces that people will think you have had forever, it will be right at home on your genuine leather belt from the first day.
