This belt was made by Hopi artist Joe Josytewa. The Sunface is seen in many different types of Hopi & Pueblo art. Both of these Pueblo cultures relied heavily on crops at one time and many of their ceremonies dealt with having bountiful and successful growing seasons and harvest. You will find two Sunface designs repeated on the belt five times each and ended with a ranger buckle style piece. On the buckle and tip you will find a Sunface design and the keeper reveals a bird. The silver is done in signature Hopi overlay style and is a very nice piece. Hopi jewelry is really popular and many of the collectors make the journey to this Reservation to buy directly from the artists, meaning we don’t get as much Hopi silver as we would like. If you like this piece make sure you don’t hesitate, it would be a very difficult piece to find again
