Bobby Concho, Zuni Inlay Box
When we started this inlay box project with Zuni artist Bobby Concho we didn’t really know what to expect. First, it took close to a year from start to finish, which even in Gallup time is long. However, what we ended up with is something unique and we are sure something you will never see again. Bobby has designed the top and all four sides with inlay work. He has used a mother of pearl background that has the effect of being puzzled together. All of the designs are Zuni Pueblo influenced. The top has a gorgeous Rainbow Man that raises above the shell and is made out of colorful mosaic inlay stones. On the sides you will find Koshari Clowns, Eagle Dancers, Pueblos, and the sacred Mountains of Zuni. All of the pieces have been set in sterling silver made by Navajo smith Henry Sam making a very sturdy box. The lid is on a hinge and will cover your most valuable Native American pieces.
