Zuni artist Andrea Lonjose makes a variety of inlay pieces from cartoon characters to Zuni Kachinas. She was taught by a Zuni legend, Shirley Benn, and much of the Benn style shows in Andrea’s work. This is a Fire God dancer that comes out before the Shalako during the annual December ceremonial. It is a very unique figure that has a stuffed deer across the body and fashioned with lots of color against the black body. Andrea has used jet, shell, coral, and turquoise stones to create her fascinating bolo. The bolo has been placed on a bolo leather cord and sterling silver tips. I believe her work is very collectible and she makes lots of different figures to make a diversified collection.
