This bracelet comes out of a private collection and is a circa 1960s piece. Unless you purchased the piece from the artist and they gave you the exact date of creation you have to use clues. First, we have an interview from daughter Lorraine Waatsa that talks about how her mother started using a hallmark in the 1960s, so this cuff is 1960s or later. Next we look at the turquoise, this cuff is a cluster of Morenci Turquoise that seems to follow Lone Mountain as the stone of choice in the Pueblo Village but is being replaced by Sleeping Beauty by the 1970s. Finally, we look at the style, Alice made jewelry into the 21st Century and those later pieces seem to have a much smaller cut. This is a big cluster that showcases gorgeous stone, and being a great bracelet it is a true Zuni treasure. One last attribute is the hallmark, when you find hallmarked Warren & Doris Ondelacy pieces (Alice’s parents) who started hallmarking around the same time as Alice many times that hallmark is stamped on an added piece of silver, like this cuff, maybe that is how she did it before not adding the hallmarked piece of silver.
